Most common: ISO 2768-m.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>ASME Y14.5<\/strong><\/td><td>GD&amp;T (Geometric Dimensioning &amp; Tolerancing). Defines symbols for flatness, parallelism, position, runout, profile \u2014 with datums and feature control frames.<\/td><td>North American clients, tight-tolerance aerospace\/automotive parts.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>DIN 7167 \/ ISO 14405<\/strong><\/td><td>General tolerances with envelope principle. Often referenced together with ISO 2768 on German drawings.<\/td><td>DACH market (Germany\/Austria\/Switzerland).<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\ud83d\udca1 Pro tip:<\/strong> If you write &#8220;ISO 2768-m&#8221; in your title block, we&#8217;ll machine to \u00b10.1mm for dimensions under 30mm and \u00b10.2mm for 30-120mm. That&#8217;s our default interpretation, and it works for 90% of industrial parts. If you need tighter, specify it \u2014 we can hold <strong>\u00b10.005mm on CNC<\/strong> where required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5 Common Drawing Mistakes That Delay CNC Quotes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After reviewing thousands of customer drawings, these five mistakes cause the most back-and-forth:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Missing thread specifications.<\/strong> &#8220;M10&#8221; is not enough \u2014 is it M10\u00d71.5 (coarse) or M10\u00d71.0 (fine)? Is it through-hole or blind? What tolerance class \u2014 6H or 6G? Thread details determine tooling and cycle time.<\/li><li><strong>Undefined surface roughness.<\/strong> A note like &#8220;Ra 3.2&#8221; (\u03bcm) tells us the finish. &#8220;Smooth&#8221; or &#8220;nice finish&#8221; doesn&#8217;t. For anodized aluminum, we default to Ra 1.6 before coating; for turned steel shafts, Ra 0.8 is standard. If you care about surface finish, put a number on it.<\/li><li><strong>Over-dimensioning or under-dimensioning.<\/strong> Every feature needs exactly one dimension reference. Redundant dimensions create ambiguity; missing dimensions force us to ask.<\/li><li><strong>No critical-to-function (CTF) callouts.<\/strong> We machine everything to the drawing, but if you flag which features are CTF, we can prioritize inspection time there and relax non-critical areas \u2014 saving you money.<\/li><li><strong>PDF-only with no 3D file.<\/strong> PDF is fine for review, but we need STEP, IGES, or X_T for CAM programming. Mark up tolerances, notes.<\/td><td>\u274c Never as the only file \u2014 we must redraw, adding time + error risk.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>STL<\/strong><\/td><td>\u2705 3D printing \/ rapid prototype quoting.<\/td><td>\u274c Not for CNC \u2014 mesh format loses precision.
